 Adamu’s
work ranges from the devotional to the popular and thus cannot be
neatly categorized. Schooled in the philosophy and aesthetics of a
fifteen-hundred-year-old tradition associated with the Ethiopian
Orthodox Church, he left the priesthood to turn to painting full-time,
finding the freedom to venture beyond religious subject matter and to
develop a style all his own. Come see this beautiful traveling
exhibition, which presents thirty-five of the artist's finest paintings
produced over the past forty years. |

Food & Restaurant Reviews |
The starter menu is short: a soup, an appetizer and a salad. Soup de la Mer is made with a thinned base of the spicy tomato sauce, with onion, potato and carrots, as well as halibut. We liked it well enough. Akra, the lone appetizer, consists of fritters made with black-eyed peas topped with spicy red sauce, and bay shrimp added to it. These were pretty much inhaled by our group.

Hotel Rwanda is the moving true story of one man's heroic efforts to save his family during the 1994 civil conflict that saw Hutu extremists systematically try and wipe out their Tutsi neighbours. Paul Rusesabagina (portrayed in a career defining performance by Don Cheadle) worked at the four star Hotel Des Mille Collines in the Rwandan capital of Kigali. The hotel was an oasis of luxury amidst a city of poverty and Hutu Paul's prominent position enabled him to befriend the wealthy and influential hotel guests. |
