Too often, today's media cast coverage in a political rather than a human light. Stories and subjects from Africa or its residents in the diaspora are tagged negatively, ignoring the positive, subtleties and nuances that define them.
The African Tribune will reinvigorate the credo that journalism speaks for the individual, checks abuses of power, and stands vigilant in the protection of democracy and free speech. By hosting regular editorial meetings using the current technology throughout the continent, and presenting news in a wide context, we will give Africans a unifying forum from which to view and address today's issues. Knowing that Africans value news and perspectives from beyond their local borders, the African Tribune also will provide timely and provocative stories from around the continent, and the world, through an independent network of writers.
